Senior Coaches for 2022

Our Senior Coaching and Management team for 2022 has been confirmed and we have 2 new positions in our management group for senior rugby in 2022 which will add a lot to our already very experienced and successful coaching group.

It gives us great pleasure to be able to announce that Jimmy Sinclair and Jessie Hansen will be joining the Southbridge coaching group.

Jimmy has been appointed as the club’s Director of Coaching and will not only be working with our senior coaches and players but will also be working with our JAB. Jimmy was one of Senior Div 1 coaches in 2016 and at the start of 2017 before taking up a position with the Canterbury Rugby Union as Head of Coach Education, Jimmy is also a former NZ 7s National Development Coach, World Rugby Trainer and Educator. Jimmy has an absolute love and passion for developing coaches at any level from under 6 to Seniors and is excited to be back involved with a club he has a great passion for!

Jessie Hansen position is as a Performance Coach (supporting mental performance on and off the field) Jessie is a current trainee Psychologist for the NZ Army, and Performance Coach for the Canterbury Farah Palmer Cup team.

Jessie has a Master of Science in Applied Psychology and 12 years’ experience in the military developing an understanding of a wide range of topics, such as: leadership, motivation, team culture, wellbeing, and resilience. All of which are key to enabling individuals to thrive under pressure and teams to perform at their best...or better than their best, week in and week out.

We are extremely lucky to have retained all our Div 1 coaches and management from 2021 to further build on the outstanding job they did this season, Reece Allen will be back for his 4th season and Tom Turner for his 3rd and Brendon Stevens for his 2nd season. Jason Mitchell will be also joining the coaching senior group with his main focus being the Div 2 side, Jason has recently been a coach of our under 18 side in 2020 and had a close involvement with the 18s this year as well.
